Monash Returns from Women’s

2013 Women's Contingent

The lovely ladies of Monash have had another fantastically successful year at the Australasian Women’s Debating Championships. Sending another huge contingent to UNSW we were thrilled to have three teams break to the Quarters and three adjudicators watch finals. Ten of our fifteen debaters ranked in the top 50 speakers and all saw huge developments over the weekend. A big thank you to our hosts UNSW and our fearless contingent leader Nisha Dutta.

Breaking to Quarter Finals:

Monash 1: Katie Heading and Ambika Wahklu
Monash 4: Meredith Prior and Britt Jeffs
Monash 5: Melissa Matteo and Beatrice Duong

Breaking adjudicators:

Gemma Buckley (Deputy Chief Adjudicator), Nisha Dutta (Grand Finals) and Rebecca Lew (Semi Finals)

Women’s 2013 Adjudication Core

MAD would like to congratulate Monash’s own Gemma Buckley who has just been named one of the Deputy Chief Adjudicators for the upcoming Australasian Women’s Debating Championships. This is another feather in the cap for the former MAD President and 2014 Easters Chief Adjudicator. Gemma’s excited to join the adjudication core and can’t wait to work alongside Kristen Price and CA Angela Kintominas this September.

More details about the tournament can be found on the tournament website. Details about the Monash contingent, including trials and sponsorship, will be made available early next semester.
